I wish I could attend the RWA Conference every single year, but it’s tough to set aside an entire week, find child care, and cover the cost of airfare, registration, and the hotel. I can only treat myself to a conference every 2-3 years, but when I do, I enjoy every moment of it!

This year was no different. I enjoyed the company of my wonderful roommates Casey Clipper and SE Larkin, Sheila and Casey at Nationals 2015and I cheered on my three Rita nominated friends: AE Jones, Tonya Burrows, and Jane Lynne Daniels. (Congratulations to AE Jones for taking both first and second place in the Prism awards! Way to go, you uber-achiever, you!)

The Killion Group hosted a new event this year… they demoed a cover-shoot with one of their cover models, Harvey. When Wende Dikec and I walked in a little late, we were taken by surprise by the kilt! Later he switched over to Die-Hard mode and made me swoon, just a bit!

Authors had the opportunity to pose with him and take photos after the demonstration was done! Yay!

Yes, we worked too! RWA offers multiple “tracks,” including Career, Craft, Publishing, and Writer’s Life, among others. During every time slot, there were about eight workshops to choose from, and sometimes the choice was tremendously difficult!

It was also wonderful to interact with such talented, intelligent women. I love the respect and admiration the authors displayed for one another. No one knows the life of a writer like another writer!
