A Great Weekend!

I had a fabulous weekend because I was able to spend it with some amazing authors and my two wonderful sons. Unfortunately, my husband couldn’t be home to share it with us since he had commitments that kept him out of town.

20150503_193943My youngest son just turned sixteen last week and for his birthday I took him to the DMV so he could take the written test for his learner’s permit. He passed, and we’ve had two lessons in the parking lot so far. Practice, practice, practice!

He and I also went to see the new Avengers II movie and had a great time together. (The movie did NOT disappoint, but then again, I’m a pretty big Marvel Universe fan. I’ve loved all those movies except for The Hulk. I was never much of a Hulk fan.)

My older son is about to graduate from high school. Over the weekend he was busy studying for an AP test in Psychology that takes place later today, but in between study sessions he prepared his performance for the “Mr. QV” pageant that will take place this Friday. His friends came over and they choreographed his opening number. He’ll be doing Jonathan Coulton’s RE Your Brains. I LOVE it! He has a talent bit that he’ll perform as well. It should be a fun and hilarious night! Wish him luck!

I also drove from Pittsburgh to Cleveland for the Northeastern Ohio Romance Writers Association (NEORWA) meeting where I met the wonderful Jane Lynne Daniels who was one of two NEORWA authors who were recently nominated for the 2015 Rita Awards. (The other being AE Jones, author of the Mind Sweeper Series).

Jane’s nomination was for her paranormal romance, Be Careful What You Kiss For (Love Rewritten Book 1). We hit it off right away. She’s such a fun person! You have to check out her book–I just bought a Kindle copy and I can’t wait to read it.  (I already read Amy’s Mind Sweeper (Mind Sweeper Series Book 1) and can highly recommend it. The first line is: An angel, a demon and a vampire walk into a bar. (What a great first impression, right?)

If you’re a fan of paranormal romance, you really have to read these books–you’ll love them. I just started Be Careful What You Kiss For and I already love it!

Be Careful What You Kiss For (Love Rewritten Book 1)

by Jane Lynne Daniels

When a psychic gives Tensley the chance to erase her biggest regret and replay her life with the one who got away, who would have thought a simple “do-over” could go so terribly wrong—and feel so right?

TAKE IT…
When Tensley Tanner-Starbrook gets the chance for one life “do-over” from a well-intentioned but bumbling psychic, she goes for it. But that change turns everything else upside down. Instead of a buttoned-up corporate executive, she’s now an entirely unbuttoned exotic dancer. And she’s face to…face with the one man she’s never been able to get over.

TO THE MAX
Detective Max Hunter has come a long way from high-school bad boy, and with everything on the line, nothing can stop him…except seeing his first love dancing in the club he’s been assigned to investigate. Torn between getting her far away from the place and needing her help as an insider, he knows only two things for sure: Tensley’s stirring feelings he thought long ago buried, and a relationship with her would be career suicide. Yet, maybe, just maybe, this was a love meant to overcome the past.
